A testament to his drive and talent, Chad Brownlee is an extraordinary example of what one person can achieve. Although he may focus on living in the moment and absorbing every treasured second with his fans while performing on stage, Brownlee has already lived a life many would argue could fill multiple lifetimes. An award-winning singer, songwriter, philanthropist and former NHL draft pick, Canadian country music artist Brownlee (MDM Recordings Inc. / Universal Music Canada) is by definition a renaissance man, who lives by the belief that “opportunity lies along the path created by the choices you make.”

A 2013 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA®) Awards™ nominee for Male Artist of the Year (for the second consecutive year), Brownlee will release the first new single from his upcoming album, in September, 2013. In recent years his singles have rapidly climbed the country music charts (7 of his last 10 released singles have cracked the “Top 10”). For this British Columbia native, a strong work ethic defines his successful transition from the ice rink to the stage. A culmination of many days and nights on the road and hours in the studio, Brownlee has been taking the country music world by storm. This year he received his first JUNO Award nomination for the 2013 Country Album of the Year and combined his dual-passion (music and hockey) to support MusicCounts as he played in the 2013 JUNO Cup. In addition to his musical adventures, he has annually partnered with the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation™ to share the joy of music with young campers, leading music workshops across the country. In only a few short years, since the August 2010 release of his self-titled debut album, Brownlee has been stealing the hearts of his fans across Canada with his mesmerizing live performances and his rugged good looks. His first album release received strong acclaim; whereby he received a 2010 Best New Artist Showcase Award from the Canadian Country Music Conference, as well as a 2010 CCMA Award™ Rising Star nomination. Since the release of his sophomore album Love Me Or Leave Me (February 14, 2012), the talented singer-songwriter has shown the industry that his star in country music is on the rise, quite literally, as he was also the recipient of the 2011 Rising Star Award at the CCMA Award’s™. In celebration of the release of this album, Brownlee hit the road, touring with Grammy-nominee Dierks Bentley across the country. He enjoyed a showcase year in the Canadian music scene throughout 2012 as CCMA Award™ multi-nominee, performing on the live national CBC TV CCMA Awards™ broadcast, and rounded out the year co-headlining The Boys of Fall 2012 national tour with Dallas Smith. Explains Brownlee, “Love Me or Leave Me, like much of my work, is drawn from personal experience. To create a song my fans can relate to and connect with, genuine emotion is definitely imperative.” The first single, “Love Me Or Leave Me” explores a young love, following the recovery from the broken trust by an ex-lover, and the trepidation of a new romance. “I want your everything now… I ain’t gonna let you down… you’ve got a choice to make” sings Brownlee.

The lyrics, which share an all too familiar pain experienced by many, are magnetized by his strong vocal skills. “I don’t care, who he was, this is us, if you really want me, I’ll make it easy, love me or leave me!” Brownlee performs with his powerful stage presence. This single is complemented by his third single “Listen”, a ballad fueled by a desperate attempt to save a fizzling love story, filled with such heartfelt lyrics “Baby just listen, listen to the words you’re saying, listen to the heart you’re breaking, think about the love you’re wasting…” sings Brownlee. He released the fourth single “Crash” to Canadian country radio on February 19, 2013.

Family is a very important part of Brownlee’s daily life. Kicking off the holiday season in December 2012, he released a viral video for the track “Leave Here Dying Young”, a song in tribute to his father. He shares, “My Dad reminds me to always be young at heart no matter how old. I hope this video inspires the kid in all of us.” Before he picked up a guitar and started rocking out on stages across Canada, Brownlee was performing on ice as a former hockey star, who was a sixth round NHL draft pick for the Vancouver Canucks in 2003. His gift for songwriting was first acknowledged when he was nominated for the NCAA Hockey Humanitarian Award for his song “The Hero I See” in his fourth year at Minnesota State University. The song contributed to raising thousands of dollars for the Anthony Ford Foundation, and was a catalyst to his soon-to-be career shift into the country music realm. Brownlee's outstanding display of accolades and intoxicating musical talent truly affirm he is a Canadian artist to watch as his promising career continues to thrive.
